...I suppose being interviewed isn't too bad, for a change. Here's a short feature on me talking about life as a foreign correspondent in Brussels, published in the Wallonia & Brussels Magazine.

Rahul, I am glad you made this point however, let me go a step further to point out that the I do not trust the indian diplomacy for any skillfull negotiation for the benefit of their compatriots in general. Look at the countries which have multi billion dollar trade with India and where thousands of their jobs are dependent upon India making decisions to buy their products, eg; Israel, Russia, etc. Ever tried taking a visa for these countries After extensive paperwork, you would get it for 2 days or a week, if you are lucky. Even worse, try taking a visa for a smaller African country, it can take you months to get a visa for a week. But the Indian diplomacy would never ever try to impose reciprocal restrictions on such countries even if they have an advantage in their discussions. No wonder that Russians have been coming to India as tourists for the last couple of decades and I have never heard of an indian going for tourism to that country. Moreover, the countries like UK, Shengen,, US, etc would never waive a visa requirement for Indians because they have suddenly discovered that its a great revenue generator. They earn billions of dollars in annual revenues just from visa fees. The Indian diplomatic negotiators perhaps would be happy getting the host countries give them personal benefits like visa for their maids and servants from India in exchange for restrictions for the millions of Indians who travel for business and tourism on a regular basis.
